Youth Ministry

Within St. Peter’s Church children attend their own activity in the Foley Chapel in the main 9:30 am service. The children rejoin the main service to take a blessing during Communion and, at the end they present their work to the congregation.

There is a very child-friendly monthly MESSY CHURCH Children’s Service at 11:30 am for youngsters and adults/carers on the third Sunday of each month (unless replaced by a “special” mainstream service). Please check the Church Diary.

All work with young people outside the regular church services is done on an ecumenical basis with our Methodist partners. The work with older secondary school age children is led by our ecumenical Youth Pastor Jonathan Pedley.

There are a wide variety of activities for young people taking place on a regular basis in various village venues.  Faith is explored and developed in an age-appropriate way, sometimes with truly amazing results.

The highlight of the year for High School aged young people is AKWA – the Alive and Kicking Weekend Away. This has been running for about 5 years and takes place in a Christian Retreat Centre (currently Quinta near Oswestry). About 30 young people attend for two days of fun activities, prayer and exploration of faith in a safe and supportive environment. It is supported by up to 14 leaders, speakers, caterers and drivers and is a good demonstration of the depth and solidity of our work with young people in Kinver.

At Easter-time, some young people join the Good Friday procession through the village and take their turn to carry the cross. On Easter Saturday, Alive and Kicking meets overnight, joining the “Sonrise” service at dawn on the top of Kinver Edge. Other special events include attending Christian Youth Festivals such as Soul Survivor and Momentum.
